Organisations We Support

The funds we raise go to support grants to help improve the lives of animals in Japan.

Here are some examples of the projects and activities we support…

  • Kennelling, fostering and rehoming projects
  • The rescue and rehabilitation of neglected, stray or unwanted pet animals 
  • Funding for essential humane animal handling equipment and improvements to animal handling facilities
  • Trap, Neuter and Return projects designed to improve welfare and prevent increases in feral cat colonies
  • Improvements to facilities at animal control and management centres
  • Seminars, workshops and other educational programmes designed to change cultural and official attitudes to animal welfare 
  • Training of animal welfare inspectors in Japan
  • Grants to support the efforts of the Environmental Investigation Agency and Campaign Whale to stop the inhumane killing of whales and dolphins in Japanese waters and elsewhere

Japan Animal Welfare Society

With six branches and almost 3,000 members, the Japan Animal Welfare Society has been working hard to help animals in Japan for over 60 years.

Wild Welfare

Founded in 2012, Wild Welfare is a charity working globally to improve welfare for wild animals living in captivity.

Animal Refuge Kansai (ARK)

A non-profit, non-governmental organisation, ARK has been working to rescue animals from suffering since 1990.

EIA

Established in 1984, the EIA investigates and campaigns against environmental crime and abuse to protect the natural world.

Japan Coalition for Animal Welfare (JCAW)

Established in 1997, JCAW aims to raise awareness of animal welfare issues in Japan.

HEART Tokushima

Founded in 2006, HEART aims to build a community in which companion animals can live free from suffering or cruelty. 

IKAN

The Iruka & Kujira Action Network (IKAN) promotes cetacean conservation through public effective education.
